Description of the day
Your two-week Sri Lanka trip begins with an overnight flight.
At the airport you will be greeted by your driver and taken to the hotel. Sri Lanka Airport is outside of the city and it takes approximately 20 minutes to drive to the northern fishing village of Negombo. A wide sandy beach awaits you and you can get a first impression of the country. Negombo is a small place with many restaurants and bars, where you can get used to the climate and the time change. A perfect start to your Sri Lanka trip.
In Negombo you will stay in comfortable accommodation near the beach with a private pool and air conditioning.
Day 3 – Explore Negombo

Description of the day
The small fishing village Negombo offers numerous opportunities to spend the day.
So that you already get an insight into the life of the locals and the country, we have planned a visit to the largest fish market in Sri Lanka on this day. Here the fishermen present their catches of the night. After your visit to the market, you can experience the place from a different perspective: You take a small boat through the canals that wind through Negombo and also explore the large lagoon of the fishing village.
Day 4 – Sigiriya rocks

Today you travel to the cultural center and visit one of the greatest highlights of Sri Lanka – the Lion Rock of Sigiriya.
The rest of the day is at your leisure. Relax by the hotel’s pool or discuss with your driver that you would like to explore the region a little more to get to know the country and its people.
Day 5 – Guided tour of Polonnaruwa and jeep safari

Day 6 – Visit Dambulla and continue to Kandy

After breakfast you travel in the third and last royal capital of Sri Lanka – Kandy.
On the way from Polonnaruwa to the central highlands you will visit the famous cave temple of Dambulla. The temple is elevated above the city of Dambulla and appears to have been swallowed up by a massive rock. From the outside it looks rather unspectacular, but inside, countless, colorful paintings decorate the walls and golden Buddha statues adorn the rooms. After your visit to Dambulla, the journey to Kandy continues. On the way you will get an insight into the craftsmanship of the locals in a batik factory or a spice garden.
You spend the night in an accommodation slightly above the city center and can enjoy the view of the landscape.
Day 7 – Kandy

Today your driver shows you the highlights of the royal city in the hills. Visit the royal botanical garden of Peradeniya, which is not only an absolute highlight for plant lovers.
Day 8 – Foray through green tea plantations

Today you travel on to the central highlands.
To get an insight into how the famous Ceylon tea is made, visit one of the many tea factories along the way. The individual processes are brought closer to you here and of course there is also a hot cup of Ceylon tea to try. In the afternoon you will reach Nuwara Eliya, the highest village in Sri Lanka.
Here we have planned another highlight of your Sri Lanka trip for you. Together with a Sri Lankan family, you will prepare your dinner and learn how to prepare a traditional curry. You get to know the country and its people in a very special way. You will stay in one of the British hotels in a central location. You don’t need air conditioning in the cool mountains.
Day 9 – Horton Plains and panoramic train ride to Ella

It is most likely in the early morning hours to experience the Horton Plains National Park with clear skies.

After 2 weeks in Sri Lanka it is time to say goodbye.
Your driver will take you to Colombo Airport on time for your departure. This is not right in the heart of the city, but a little outside.
Many flights to Europe start early in the morning, so leave your hotel early. If your departure is late or in the evening, you still have time to explore Colombo. We are happy to book a suitable international flight from Colombo to Europe.
